The particulars

Some friends of your own.

The Society is for parents who have noticed they have fewer friends than they used to.

This is not a support group and not a dating group.
It is a club for parents who would like some friends.

Our business is ordinary company: a table, an evening, an outing.

The Society began in Montpelier, Vermont, in 2026.
Its paperwork is somewhat older in spirit.

The forms of gathering

Assemblies are for adults.
Expeditions welcome children.

Each notice specifies the place, time, and any costs or reservations.

Parents remain responsible for their children at Expeditions. The Society does not provide childcare.

Questions reasonably anticipated

Does it matter how old my children are?

Parents of children of every age are welcome: babies, toddlers, school-age children, teenagers, and grown children.

Your children do not have to live at home. Parenthood has no graduation ceremony.

Assemblies are for adults; Expeditions welcome children. Each gathering notice explains who may attend.

May I come alone?

Yes. Partnered parents are welcome to come on their own, too.

The point is to make friends belonging to the person rather than the household.

Do I need to introduce myself to everyone?

No formal introductions. No going around a circle.
Ordinary conversation may occur.

Do I need to reserve a place?

Ordinary gatherings are drop-in unless the notice says otherwise. Some special outings may have capacity limits or outside tickets.

Joining the mailing list is not an RSVP.

What does it cost?

Montpelier is free to attend.
Food, drinks, and any separately ticketed activities are your own expense.

You may make an optional donation to the Montpelier chapter. Giving is never a condition of attendance.

Stowe’s proposed paid membership is described on the membership page; it is not yet on sale.

What if I arrive late, leave early, or miss several gatherings?

That is permitted.
The Secretary does not require an explanation.

Can I help start a chapter?

Yes. Send an inquiry with your town and a little about what you have in mind.
No commitment is required to begin the conversation.

* The parent. Not the child.
Your children are socializing at a perfectly normal rate and are, in fact, warmly invited to every Expedition. It is you we are worried about.
